It is on their minds. I can see it in their eyes when they said good bye. But it is resting well, not heavy and burdensome; sometimes, but not constantly heavy. Not anymore.
There is hope and tomorrow lighting their eyes now...now that we are one year removed. It is not because we are one year removed. It is because life floods their little hearts. And mostly, because God has been close. I see courage in their eyes and love.
Earlier today, I dropped Elizabeth Marie and Emily Anne off for their first day of the new school year. As usual, I walked them into their new classes. Last year, Marianne and I were both there. She was amazing in these moments. She owned them. This year, it was me going overload on snapping pictures. God has guided us very far in such a short time. Not a day goes by that I'm not overwhelmingly thankful. Not a moment goes by when I forget how miraculous his grace is. When my way was lost, I was found; when trouble struck deeply, his safety sank even deeper; when pain and loneliness and questions bombarded my mind, his grace stood sufficient...for us all, in our own way.
I am deeply, deeply thankful for the life that I live and the beauty present in darkness.
It is in their smiles.

Guy, Your strength and love and trust in God has given me so much hope and joy over the years. It has been you and Marianne I've looked to in the past for guidance and you've always pointed me in the direction of God's love and plan for me. You and your girls are an inspiration and I am blessed to call you my friends.

Guy, It is your strength and trust and love in God that has been so inspiring to me over the years. When I needed guidance it was always you and Marianne that I went to, and always you pointed me in the direction of God's love and plan for me. You told me to trust in him. It is such a blessing being a part of you guy's life and being able to watch the girls grow even if only through FB. Your strength has touched us all.
